Parents
are forever...
Divorce is a very stressful experience for parents and children. Although
spouses may decide to end their relationship, their children will always need
both parents to be part of their lives.
While most parents begin the process of ending their relationship with the
best of intentions, very often their children are exposed to much of the friction
that is present between the adults. Without meaning to, mothers and fathers
include their children interpersonal struggles, and the distress children
feel can show up in difficult or hurtful behavior.
Although there may be no easy answers to the issues faced by the parents and
children, having some basic information can make an important difference.
This 2 1/2 hours workshop begins the effort that parents can make for their
children by placing a focus on what children need during and after the divorce,
and how parents can help them succeed.

Do
I have to attend?
By local rule of the Mahoning County Court of Common Pleas, Division of Domestic
Relations, all parents with minor children who are parties to a divorce, dissolution,
or legal separation action are required to participate prior to the date of
final hearing.
How much does it cost?
The fee of $20.00 covers the cost of the workshop presentation and materials.
No profit is realized through fees collected by this program. Fees are payable
to the agency where you participate and are due the day you attend. The Court
waives payment for persons who have filed a poverty affidavit with their divorce
petition or separation agreements.

Schedule of Presentations:
Three to six workshops will be held at various times each month. You must
call Domestic Relations Court Monday through Friday, 8:00AM - 4:30PM to pre-register
or if you have any questions.
NOTE: Please do not bring children to the workshop. Child care will
not be provided.
How to Register:
Pre-registration is required. Parents who have not pre-registered will not
be admitted. Call the program office at Mahoning County Domestic Relations
Court at 330-740-2090 for workshop dates and to pre-register. Please have
your court case number when you call to pre-register. Parents may attend the
same presentation, but each parent must pre-register separately.
If you will not be able to attend a presentation for which you have registered,
contact the Court to reschedule.
Certificates of attendance
will be given to participants who complete the entire workshop and evaluation
form. Notice of your completion of the workshop will be given to the Court.
Notice of completion for both parents must be received by the Court prior
to the day of the final hearing.
NOTE: Please arrive 15 to 20 minutes before your scheduled workshop
to signin and receive materials.
